An example worthy of imitation and the reason for the article is to learn from others such as the interculturality of Leninger or the wise intercultural actions of Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo that will help nursing to be competent with the cultural sensitivity it needs to understand and meet the needs of the various populations, translated into better health outcomes and professional satisfaction, however this cultural vitality requires that the professional himself wants to determine to do so, to receive continuous training with institutional support.
Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos Copyright (c) 2025 Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1290 Mon, 02 Jun 2025 02:20:11 +0000 Reasons for the use of commercial infant formulas in mothers who are users of a primary care facility in Chiclayo- Peru https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/625
Objective: Describe the reasons for the use of commercial infant formulas in mothers who are users of a primary care health facility in Chiclayo-Peru. Method: Qualitative, descriptive study, developed with 16 mothers who attend the José Leonardo Ortiz Health Center, province of Chiclayo, Peru, between March and April 2024, data collection was done using an interview guide, validated by judgment of experts and pilot test, with the approval of the institutional ethics committee. Method: Qualitative, descriptive-interpretative research. Sample: 15 nurses from the emergency areas of a Police Hospital in Chiclayo. Instrument: semi-structured in-depth interview, validated by experts and pilot study. Results: Three categories were obtained: a) Low professionalism and scarce availability of professional and material resources, b) Problems with hospitalized patients, family members and health personnel, c) Coping decisions with values, dialogue and training. Conclusion: The participating nurses, as well as nurses from other countries, emphasize that ethical problems are present because they do not conscientiously assume their own duties. This situation weakens their professionalism and makes them improvise in their care because they do not have sufficient material resources.
Fiorella Barsallo Fernández, Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos Copyright (c) 2025 Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos, Fiorella Barsallo Fernández https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1258 Fri, 30 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Breast self-examination: Perceptions of 9th cycle nursing students at a private university in Chiclayo, 2023 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1225
Breast self-examination is a useful procedure to prevent breast cancer, despite its importance, there is little knowledge and inadequate practices in its performance, especially in the young population. In the studied area, a high number of people infected by the virus was observed; due to a possible relationship with the insufficient adoption of effective preventive practices and limited knowledge of the disease. Objective: To determine the relationship between sociodemographic factors and the level of dengue knowledge in people attending the Chongoyape health center, 2022. Method: Quantitative research with a correlational cross-sectional design. The population was 500 people served, monthly average of medical consultations. The sample was 194 people sampled by convenience in the waiting room of the health facility. The "knowledge about dengue" questionnaire was used (Aiken's V validity = 1; p = 0.004); and reliability with Kuder-Richadrson (KR20 (0.70). The data were processed and analyzed with the SPSS version 27 program. The principle of anonymity, reliability, fair treatment and voluntary and informed participation was considered. Results: More than 90% of the participants interviewed declared having knowledge about the definition, transmission, complications, treatment of dengue and preventive measures of dengue at home. A significant statistical relationship was identified between knowledge of dengue and the level of study (p <0.001). The other factors analyzed did not show a significant relationship, presenting p values = 0.005. Conclusion: There are crucial information gaps about transmitting mosquitoes and risky household behaviors, and targeted public health educational interventions are urgently needed.
Maite Kimberly Mendo Aguirre , Anita del Rosario Zevallos Cotrina Copyright (c) 2025 Anita del Rosario Zevallos Cotrina, Maite Kimberly Mendo Aguirre https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1261 Mon, 30 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Hospitalization of the newborn, puerperium and maternal needs: nursing implications https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1227
Talking about the hospitalization of a newborn is a complex process, although the care of the newborn is guaranteed in the neonatal unit. Who guarantees the well-being of the mother of the hospitalized newborn during their stay in the neonatal unit? and especially during her postpartum period; which can be physiological or surgical with or without complications, who provides holistic care to help make the transition of this process more bearable? Her physical, emotional and psychological recovery, added to the hospitalization of her newborn child, create an imbalance in her well-being. Therefore, nursing professionals and/or a multidisciplinary health team must provide care to the mother of a newborn hospitalized in the neonatal unit, because the mother, in addition to experiencing the postpartum process, may experience suffering when leaving her child hospitalized. Given this, the objective arises to reflect on the implications for nursing caused by the hospitalization of the newborn, the postpartum period and the maternal needs to mitigate their suffering.
Marisol Ramírez Robles, Alicia Alvarez Aguirre, Rosa Jeuna Díaz Manchay, Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos Copyright (c) 2025 Marisol Ramírez Robles, Alicia Alvarez Aguirre, Rosa Jeuna Díaz Manchay, Mirtha Flor Cervera Vallejos https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1227 Mon, 26 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Advanced Practice Nursing: its implementation in Mexico and contribution to Primary Health Care https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1180
Advanced Practice Nursing is a profile that contributes to the Primary Health Care strategy, in addition to being an area of opportunity for nursing professionals to work in different contexts with expanded skills, in order to improve health care and impact people's quality of life. The search was carried out in six databases: SCOPUS, PubMed Central, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, and MDPI, between February and May 2024. DeCS descriptors in Spanish, English, and Portuguese were used: Care, Nursing, Childbirth, and Culturally Competent Healthcare, combined using the Boolean operator AND. Specific inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, ultimately selecting 11 articles. Main results: The included studies reveal that nursing care in childbirth can significantly benefit from the integration of a cultural approach. Humanized practices, partial recognition of traditional medicine, language barriers, and limited training in interculturality were identified. Although staff are reported to be willing to incorporate cultural practices, there are structural, educational, and attitudinal limitations toward traditional midwives. Intercultural care improves maternal satisfaction, reduces the use of unnecessary cesarean sections, and promotes more respectful practices. Overall conclusion: Nursing presents a fundamental pillar of improving its practice through a culturally competent approach. Adopting strategies that integrate women's values, beliefs, and traditions during childbirth allows for more holistic, humane, and respectful care, with direct benefits for the woman and her family.
Juan Daniel Suarez Maximo, Carlos Francisco Meza-García Copyright (c) 2025 Juan Daniel Suarez Maximo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://revistas.usat.edu.pe/index.php/cietna/article/view/1172 Thu, 29 May 2025 16:02:53 +0000
