MOOC proposal to develop digital competencies in university professors
Abstract
Within the educational realm, teaching methodologies that incorporate the use of digital technologies require specific skills and understandings from educators, leading to a reevaluation and creation of pedagogical approaches different from those initially acquired. In this scenario, research was conducted with the purpose of proposing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to cultivate digital skills among faculty members. A design involving pre-testing was used with a sample of 34 university teachers, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The survey based on the DigcompEdu Framework was employed as the data collection instrument. The results of the instrument indicate that participants in the diagnostic evaluation achieved an average score of 14.77, with a value of 13 being the most frequently recurring. Additionally, over 80% of the participants' results suggest that they are at an insufficient or sufficient level within the measurement range. It was concluded that, despite possessing knowledge of digital competency, the teachers are not able to attain a university-level proficiency.
