Abstract
Faith and reason make up the propulsive gear so that, together with truth, science and coherence, the nursing professional discovers unknown but surely prosperous horizons for society. In this regard, Benedict XVI, based on the sacred scriptures, maintains that seeking the truth is an inherent act of this professional; and proper of his nature to share knowledge with future generations from the scientific method and responsibility. In the same way, teaching would characterize a fundamental holistic activity for the nursing professional, which together with research ensures and guarantees a humanized nursing treatment par excellence for the subject of care and its environment in general, without excluding self-care. There is no doubt then that, for an outstanding professional work, science is as necessary as faith and spirituality; the first provides knowledge based on evidence, and the other, the ability to practice with fullness and satisfaction.

When nursing professionals come to understand how faith aided by reason opens inscrutable horizons, then at that very moment their restlessness to find truths has an opening to continue scrutinizing what they still cannot concretize and understand; and the fact is that faith and reason are complementary, each on its own are a chaos, evident in the multitude of existing crises. On the other hand, together and active, they undoubtedly help to fill humanity with hope and with them all nursing professionals in whatever degree they are, from student to PhD.
Now, how does nursing nurture their hope that better times will come next? I find the answer in the insights of Benedict XVI1, as he makes us reflect on a profound truth, for any nursing professional including our students, on how God in the depths of our being has introduced the aspiration for truth and with it to come to know Him, to love Him and to come to find our truth.
And our truth is that we are trainers of the new generations, an exciting challenge because we have to link them with the true knowledge, the one that marks the route, but with daily demand and effort. More, when it comes to research and when doing it without calculations, they reason how they have lost time before and what they would have gained if they took advantage of it, knowing what they know now and comes the consolation; nothing is lost! Although some, if they lost; however, the desire to be better arises, then we can affirm that experience has been gained.
Other questions I ask myself are: how is nursing capable, despite the crises, to prevent, care for and promote the good of humanity without thinking of its own good, how does it enrich its personal and professional life, with height; I find answers in Polo2, when he determines that the mission of the professor is to investigate, to find superior truths, to transmit and extend them.
If we reason with faith, on a research basis, we argue together how a good spirituality, well guided, helps nursing professionals, patients and families to find meaning in their sufferings, to meet again with affection, to take advantage of the time to be happy, to live in peace or as a very nice patient said “to find what I have lost in years, in my daily meditation”; or a very human colleague who affirmed “to die is to live again”. There is no doubt, because we go to find what we have gained while we existed.
On the other hand, by finding intercultural knowledge through an exhaustive understanding of what others do to preserve health and the common good, or by being interested in ensuring that the physical functionality of the elderly is in harmony with respect for their autonomy and dignity, together with other areas of interest with children and adolescents, the derivations of this knowledge that end up in the construction of models or theories make the knowledge spread and its practice feasible with the support of society, health authorities and the nursing professionals themselves.
They are the ones who with an unshakable faith and a powerful reason continue to insist on the good, because no one is deprived and included in their care. Through them, pass students, patients, colleagues, where generosity as a social duty is the key to their work.
The Nursing Professional in the words of Sellés3, understands a project, because it will never be concluded while it exists, all nursing professionals must look to the future, realizing that we can always grow even with defeats, because their perfection is in a variety of levels, therefore, some we perceive them with a very unique human treatment, others are super understanding, while several are pure cathedra, with a faith that can be seen in their work when in life there is a great harmony between intellect, love of God and assistance to the sick with an organization that only an infinite love, it is possible to be a daily reality, because that perfection is embedded in the intimate and in their higher faculties.
That is why the end of the semester is very exciting, because each teacher and student, being at the service of the other, conclude that the former prepared them for life and the latter are initiating life, where serving is more important than standing out.
