Information For Authors

Are you interested in publishing in the magazine? Authors must register with the journal before submitting the publication or, if they're already registered, they can simply log in and begin the five-step process.



  SUBMISSIONS INSTRUCTIONS

Manuscripts (articles) must be submitted via the OJS-USAT portal of the journal "Apuntes de Bioetica" attaching the following documents:

  1. Presentation letter addressed to the General Editor of the Journal "Notes on Bioethics", signed by the corresponding author, requesting the evaluation to be considered for publication. Download [ PRESENTATION LETTER ]

  2. A simple affidavit must be signed by the author and co-authors of the article, in which they state that the manuscript is unpublished, that there is no conflict of interest, among other aspects necessary for publication. Once the article submission process has begun, no variations in the declaration or the entry of new authors or co-authors will be accepted. Download [ SIMPLE SWORN STATEMENT ]

  5. If the article has figures in png, jpeg or gif format; You must attach them in a resolution that guarantees the quality of the image; this is necessary for the layout of the article in XML

 GLOBAL GUIDELINES FOR WRITING ARTICLES
 
The journal "Apuntes de Bioetica" only accepts original articles that deal with topics of interest of the journal. That have not been sent simultaneously to another journal, articles may be presented in the form of:
  • Research article: Unpublished article on topics of interest to the journal, developed with solidity, originality and timeliness, synthesizing in a pertinent and rigorous manner the scientific results that you wish to present.

  • Review article: Concise presentation of the most recent literature with scientific veracity that contributes to the updating, synthesis and dissemination of new knowledge on the subject under review.

Regarding the maximum number of tables and/or figures, you are advised to consider four of these elements as an adequate number. However, if you consider that the inclusion of more figures is necessary for the understanding of the article, you can do so.

General considerations:

  • All contributions must be original and written in Spanish.

  • The content of the articles is the exclusive responsibility of their authors.

  • Article format, The type of font, spacing, authorship, affiliation, abstract, references and other formatting points are indicated in the WORD template.

  • Textual quotes should be highlighted with a tab larger than the paragraph. Citations of less than 5 lines will appear within the paragraph and between quotation marks, in normal font and not in italics. When citing a paragraph, words, phrases or sentences from the original that are not useful for the work can be omitted, and if it ultimately makes sense, three ellipses in square brackets are used to indicate the deletion.

  • Words from other languages ​​used in the text must be in italics, without quotes, in bold, or underlined.

  • Avoid footnotes, if necessary, they should not exceed three lines. Preferably, works without footnotes will be accepted. The letter must be three points smaller than the tetra of the content of the document.
  • References and citations, if the articles used in the manuscript have DOI, it is mandatory to reference them with said link. References and citations must follow the citation style of the latest edition of the APA (American Psychological Association). See APA citation guide v.7

  • Keywords must be obtained from the UNESCO Thesaurus
  • We suggest the use of reference managers such as Mendeley or  Zotero to manage your references and obtain their format quickly.

  • Tables and figures must be numbered. If it is authored by someone else, the source must be cited. Images inserted as tables are not accepted. All figures must be of quality and be at least 800px wide. Screenshots are not accepted as images if they do not meet the quality. All tables and figures must be inserted within the content of the manuscript in the place where they are cited.
  • Submitted manuscripts are required to cite and reference all data, program codes, and other materials that were used or generated in the research.
